Can you help overeating.

There are some people who when asked" why do you so much? " they would answer I just can't help it. Turns out what they are may be true. Some scientists have discovered the exact connections in the brain that cause this hunger signal. If this discovery turns out to be true, people all over who have any eating disorder ( not just overeating) will be able to maintain a healthy eating habit. If there is way to help control this signal we could possibly turn America from obese to healthy.

  1. In my opinion, I honestly feel those who respond with that answer, may be like some of my friends, eat to be full rather than satisfied. It is possible, there may a select few amount of people who REALLY can not help it, but often, people have control and just chose to eat as they please.

Sometimes thirst is confused as hunger, or people eat when they are bored, I am definitely a victim of that! But if this article shows to be true, that people really cannot control themselves while eating, I am interested to see how this research will pan out. Good topic!

  2. Earlier this year there was also a report that suggested a gene that caused people to over indulge in food. In fact there is about 8 genes so far that when mutated can cause a person to overeat. Is there a gene causing it or a neurological disorder or a combination of the two? It's so confusing to me.

The article I was speaking about is here:

  3. That's really interesting. I also feel that some of that may be due to our culture's attitude towards eating, which tends to promote overeating with things like buffets or supersize meals. I wonder how they would use this information about the neural connections to make a treatment for overeaters.
